PENTICTON, BRITISH COLUMBIA – After a year of learning and honing her skills on the technical and marketing side of the motorsports world, Sarah Cornett-Ching and the class of 2011 will graduate from the Race 101 program in a Gala Awards Dinner and Graduation Ceremony held in North Carolina this coming Saturday night, February 11th.

Each graduating member will receive a diploma, and several awards will be handed out during the evening, including the Race 101 Premiere Driver award, which the top member of the class will receive during the ceremony.

Sarah Cornett-Ching Seeks Help of Fans and Sponsors with Voting in the ‘Always a Champion’ Video Contest; Winner to Receive Sponsorship

Sarah Cornett-Ching Tests at Famed Hickory Motor Speedway; Attends Performance Racing Industry Trade Show in Orlando with RACE 101

PENTICTON, BRITISH COLUMBIA – The 2011 racing season may have ended long ago, but Sarah Cornett-Ching has remained very active within the racing community, attending the final classes of the RACE 101 program in North Carolina, which also included a test session at the famous Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, North Carolina.  Sarah’s most recent racing adventure extended past the usual trip to North Carolina, as several Race 101 classmates attended the annual P.R.I. (Performance Racing Industry) Trade Show in Orlando, Florida last weekend.

Sarah and her father left Kelowna, British Columbia to embark on their journey to Charlotte, North Carolina a couple weeks ago.  On Tuesday November 29th  Sarah took to the track despite a gloomy forecast, and the rain held off long enough for Sarah to complete her test session.

Sarah Cornett-Ching Honored for 2011 Achievements at Annual Awards Banquets; Travels to North Carolina for Race 101 Program

PENTICTON, BRITISH COLUMBIA – With the 2011 racing season now over, Sarah Cornett-Ching and her fellow racers were honored for their achievements in Awards ceremonies for both the OK Tire ARCA West Series, as well as the West Coast Sportsman Series last month.

The OK Tire ARCA West series awards banquet took place on October 15th in Prince George, British Columbia.  Sarah was presented her award for finishing in eighth in series point standings, and also took home hardware as the series Rookie of the Year, and Most Improved Driver.  Sarah’s father Joe took home a prestigious award from the banquet, winning the Most Dedicated Crew Member for 2011.

Just two weeks later, Cornett-Ching attended the West Coast Sportsman Series Awards Banquet in Vernon, British Columbia.  Sarah was honored for her fourth place finish in the West Coast Sportsman Series for 2011, and again picked up the award for Most Improved Driver. [read more]

Sarah Cornett-Ching Ends 2011 Season With Another Podium Finish in West Coast Sportsman Series Finale at Motoplex Speedway

PENTICTON, BRITISH COLUMBIA – The 2011 racing season has been one filled with exciting opportunities and challenges for 20-year-old Sarah Cornett-Ching, of Summerland, BC.  It all began with the Race 101 program in North Carolina back in January and has taken her through the full season in the OK Tire ARCA West Series, and her first career win in the West Coast Sportsman Series.  The productive season produced 4 top five finishes and 9 top ten finishes in just 12 races, including two podium finishes and a victory at Motoplex Speedway on August 13th.   Cornett-Ching competed at five new race tracks this season, and adapted quickly at each of them.

The final race of the season took place at Motoplex Speedway last weekend in the OK Tire ARCA Series, and Cornett-Ching had the dominant car early in the race.  At one point in the race, she had built up a full straightaway lead, but a series of restarts with Cornett-Ching on the outside lane caused her to burn up her right rear tire and she settled for a third place finish. Sarah Cornett-Ching Earns Top Five Finish in Final ARCA West Series Race of the Season; One More Event Remaining in 2011

PENTICTON, BRITISH COLUMBIA – The 2011 racing season has been very exciting for Sarah Cornett-Ching and her Summerland, BC racing team.  Starting with the Race 101 program in North Carolina early this year, Sarah has learned a tremendous amount about all aspects of the sport, and applied that knowledge through several exciting events this season, including her NASCAR Canadian Tire Series debut at Motoplex Speedway in Vernon, BC on July 23rd where she had a 14th place finish.  Cornett-Ching was back at Motoplex Speedway this past weekend for the final ARCA West Series event of the season.

Sarah entered Saturday night’s ARCA West finale in 11th place in the point standings and was hoping to have a solid finish to vault her into the top ten and end the season on a high note.  Cornett-Ching began the day with a practice session, and she was third fastest.  She started at the back of her qualifying heat, and again proved that she had a fast car as she moved through the field up to fifth place at the checkered flag. Sarah Cornett-Ching Wins With Last Lap Pass; Penticton Racer Scores Impressive Career-First at Motoplex Speedway

PENTICTON, BRITISH COLUMBIA - Sarah Cornett-Ching earned her first career late model victory in dramatic fashion on Saturday at Motoplex Speedway near Vernon, British Columbia. The 20-year-old Penticton racer edged her #99 Snap-On Tools-sponsored car past race leader Mark Berrieau on the final turn of the final lap to steal the win.

“I don’t think I could have imagined a finish much more exciting than that,” said an exuberant Cornett-Ching after the race. “The crew worked hard all day long to get the car faster, and it felt great for the feature. This is awesome.”

Cornett-Ching was among the fastest throughout the day’s practice and qualifying, but the team spent plenty of time chasing mechanical issues. [read more]

Sarah Cornett-Ching Learns as Fast as She Drives; Adapts Well at First Visit to Agassiz Speedway

This past weekend, Sarah Cornett-Ching and her team made the three-hour trek from her Summerland home to Agassiz Speedway, located in Agassiz, British Columbia.  Agassiz Speedway is a fast quarter-mile bullring located east of Vancouver.  This was the first ever appearance at the track for Cornett Ching, and she spent the first part of the morning getting acclimated with her surroundings and preparing for the day’s events.

At the beginning of the day, there were two 30-minute practice sessions and Sarah spent the first session feeling the car out, and getting comfortable with the track.  Sarah spent most of the final session observing the faster cars and watching what lines they are utilizing on the track. 

“I felt that I could learn more in that second session by watching the other cars on the track, and seeing what they are doing”, commented Cornett-Ching as she began to prepare for qualifying.  “Hopefully we can get a great finish here today”.  [read more]

Sarah Cornett-Ching to Participate in Charity Events Leading Up Gordie Mannes Memorial Weekend in Penticton, BC

Fresh off her NASCAR Canadian Tire Series debut just one week ago, Sarah Cornett-Ching is ready to get back behind the wheel of her Late Model this weekend in the Gordie Mannes Memorial Weekend at Penticton Speedway in Penticton, British Columbia.  While Sarah has never raced here Late Model at this track, she has raced in the Street Stock division several times with multiple podium finishes.

“I am very optimistic going into this weekend for both our racing efforts and our charity work”, says Cornett-Ching.  “If we can keep the car clean we should be able to bring it home with an awesome finish”.

Great Weekend of Racing For Sarah Cornett-Ching With Double Duty Saturday at Motoplex Speedway in Vernon, BC

Sarah Cornett-Ching Continues to Improve in First Year in ARCA West Series With Top Ten at Prince George; Return Trip to Motoplex up Next

After a full day of work on Thursday, Sarah Cornett-Ching and her father left their Summerland, British Columbia home and began their more then 8 hour journey across the province to Prince George, and the Prince George Auto Racing Association Speedway for the Next Round of the ARCA West OK Tire Series.  Sarah arrived in Prince George a day before race day, as she had a pair of appearances to make to help promote the series.

Sarah made it to Prince George on Friday morning, and visited the Prince George Secondary School for her first appearance of the day.  Sarah had the car on display for the students to see, and helped local authorities with their campaign to keep racing off the streets.  With the ARCA West Series in town, it was also a great chance to promote the event, and Cornett-Ching was excited about the opportunity to meet with the local students and sign some autographs and answer their questions. Sarah Cornett-Ching To Make Debut at Prince George Auto Racing Association Speedway Park in Next Round of ARCA West Series Racing

Accomplished young ARCA West Series driver Sarah Cornett-Ching will be in Prince George, BC this weekend for the Mr. Quick Lube and Oil 100 at Prince George Auto Racing Association Speedway Park. Aside from the Saturday night race Sarah will also be making an appearance at Prince George Secondary School to have a meet and greet with the students and she will have the race car on display prior to race day.

Sarah will be signing autographs and handing out hero cards at Prince George Secondary School on Friday afternoon at 11:30 for the students, teachers and fans. Racing will take place on Saturday June 18th with time trials at 6:00pm and racing starting at 7:00pm. Sarah Cornett-Ching Gets Top Ten Finish in ASA Racing Debut at Motoplex in Vernon, BC; Late Race Flat Squashes Top Five Run

Sarah Cornett-Ching of Summerland, British Columbia made her ASA racing debut this past weekend at Motoplex Speedway, in Vernon, BC.  Not only was she the only female racer in the field, she was also the youngest of the 20 racers on hand at the pristine half-mile oval.

The ASA Series raced on Canadian land for the first time ever at Motoplex Speedway last weekend, and Cornett-Ching was very excited to be a part of it.  The day consisted of time trials, qualifying heats, and a 125 lap ASA Series main event.  She posted the fourth fastest speed in practice, but was looking to gain some more consistency in her lap times, and made several changes to the handling of the car before getting back on the track for another practice session.  [read more]

Sarah Cornett-Ching Struggles in Thunder Mountain Debut; Plans to Race Saturday at Motoplex Speedway in Vernon, BC

Last weekend, Sarah Cornett-Ching left her Summerland, British Columbia home after a full day at work, and made the long eight hour trek across the province to Williams Lake, BC for her first ever appearance at Thunder Mountain Speedway for the Heartland Toyota 100 lap ARCA West Series event.

After arriving at the track early on Saturday morning, Cornett-Ching walked the tricky, 3/8th mile looking for the fastest way around the track that is known for its distinctive 50 feet wide corners that are banked 12 degrees with 3.5 degree banking on the straights and is shaped to provide a longer straight away between turns three and four than turns one and two.
